Beckenham Taxi and Minicab Service for BR3

A Beckenham taxi from our office reaches you by way of Kent House Road or Southend Road, usually in about ten minutes. Beckenham lies south east of Sydenham in the borough of Bromley, and its BR3 postcode covers a wide spread of suburbs. We serve all of it, from Clock House and New Beckenham to Park Langley and Eden Park.

Beckenham High Street and the town centre

The High Street curves gently downhill from St George's Church to the war memorial roundabout. It has a cinema, a long row of restaurants and bars, and most of the high street names. On Friday and Saturday evenings it is one of the busiest spots in the area.

Stopping on the High Street is restricted in places. Drivers usually collect from the top by the church, from Kelsey Park Road, or from the bays near the Green. When you call, tell us which venue you are in. We will suggest the nearest safe place to meet.

At closing time, demand jumps. Book your ride home before you go out, or ring 020 8778 8888 an hour ahead.

Beckenham Junction, Clock House and the other stations

BR3 has more stations than almost anywhere of its size, which helps commuters and confuses visitors.

  • Beckenham Junction has trains to Victoria and the tram to Croydon
  • Clock House and New Beckenham are on the Hayes line to London Bridge and Charing Cross
  • Kent House is on the Victoria line, near the Penge border
  • Ravensbourne and Beckenham Hill are on the Thameslink loop
  • Elmers End and Eden Park are further south on the Hayes line

Tell us the exact station. At Beckenham Junction the pickup is on the station forecourt off Rectory Road. At Clock House, drivers wait on Clock House Road beside the bridge.

Tramlink connections

The tram from Beckenham Junction and Beckenham Road runs to East Croydon, where fast trains leave for the south coast. It is useful, but trams are crowded at peak times and slow with luggage.

If you would rather go straight there, we drive to East Croydon in around 20 to 25 minutes.

Parks and open spaces by cab

Beckenham is known for its parks, and visitors come from across south London.

Beckenham Place Park

This is the largest green space in the borough of Lewisham, though it carries Beckenham's name. It has a Georgian mansion, ancient woodland, a swimming lake and miles of paths. The main entrance is on Beckenham Hill Road. There is limited parking, and it fills early on sunny weekends.

Kelsey Park

Kelsey Park is a short walk from the High Street. It has a lake, herons and a cafe. The Manor Way and Wickham Road gates are the usual drop off points.

Croydon Road Recreation Ground

The bandstand here is where David Bowie played in 1969, and fans still visit. It is on Croydon Road, close to Beckenham Beacon.

Health appointments in BR3

Beckenham Beacon on Croydon Road is the local health hub, with an urgent treatment centre, outpatient clinics and GP services. It is a regular destination for us.

Bethlem Royal Hospital is on Monks Orchard Road, on the southern edge of the area. The Sloane Hospital and other private clinics are in the residential roads near Albemarle Road.

Roads to know in Beckenham

The main routes are Croydon Road to the west, Bromley Road to the east, Southend Road to the north and Wickham Road to the south. They meet in a tangle around the High Street, and the junction at the war memorial is slow at peak times.

Our drivers use Rectory Road, Manor Road and Village Way to move across town without sitting in the High Street queue. They also know the long residential avenues of Park Langley, where house names are sometimes used instead of numbers. Give us a landmark if your address is hard to find.

Commuters and early starts

A good many Beckenham residents work in the City and Canary Wharf, and others travel regularly for work. When the Hayes line is disrupted, or a meeting starts before the first useful train, a car is the fallback.

We take early bookings from 4am onwards. Tell us where you need to be and when. For regular trips, a business account with weekly invoicing keeps the paperwork simple.

Shopping trips and Bromley

Beckenham has supermarkets on the High Street and at Elmers End. For a bigger shop, The Glades in Bromley is ten to fifteen minutes away.

We are happy to take you there and collect you with your bags. Ask about a wait and return if you are only picking up an order.

Sport and leisure

The area is full of sports clubs. Beckenham Cricket Club, the tennis clubs off Foxgrove Road, the rugby club at Balmoral Avenue and the leisure centre at the Spa on Beckenham Road all bring regular bookings.

Parents whose children train on weekday evenings often book a return car for the finish. Teams travelling to away fixtures can share a 7 seater taxi with their kit bags.

Schools and regular runs

Beckenham has several large secondary schools, including those at Langley Park, and many primaries. South Eden Park Road and Hawksbrook Lane get very busy at drop off.

For a car at the same time every school day, our school run taxi page explains standing bookings and child seats.

Visitors, weddings and hotels

Wedding venues and function rooms around Beckenham and Bromley keep our larger vehicles busy at weekends. If you are organising transport for guests, our hotel transfer taxi page explains how we plan multiple pickups.

Trains and flights from Beckenham

Beckenham is well placed for the south. The road through Elmers End and Shirley joins the main route to the coast, so the journey described on our minicab from Sydenham to Gatwick Airport page is a little shorter from BR3.

For flights from the far side of the capital, see the Sydenham to Stansted Airport transfers page.

For central London trains, our Sydenham to Victoria Station taxi page has route details. Allow about ten minutes more from Beckenham than from Sydenham.

Choosing a vehicle

Saloons carry four passengers. Estates carry four with more luggage. MPVs take six or seven, and the minibus takes eight. Child seats and wheelchair accessible vehicles are available on request.

Neighbouring areas

North west of Beckenham is Penge, on our Penge taxi page. North is Bellingham, on the Bellingham taxi page. West towards Elmers End is Anerley, on the Anerley taxi page.

The complete list is on our areas we cover page.
