Airport Transfers from Sydenham to Heathrow
There is no direct train from Sydenham to Heathrow. The rail option means the Overground or Southern into town, then a change onto the Elizabeth line or the Piccadilly line, with stairs and crowds on the way. That is fine with a backpack. It is hard work with a family and four cases.
A private hire car goes door to terminal. We collect from your home in Sydenham, Lower Sydenham or Sydenham Hill, load the bags and drop you at the departures level of the right terminal.
Going the other way, we collect from Heathrow and bring you home to SE26. If you are flying from a different airport, see our minicab from Sydenham to Gatwick Airport page, which is usually the shorter drive.
Airport Pickups Heathrow with Meet and Greet
Landing after a long flight is the moment you least want to hunt for a car. With meet and greet, your driver waits in the arrivals hall holding a board with your name on it, then walks you to the car.
Give us your flight number when you book. We follow the flight, so if it lands early or late the pickup time moves with it. Private hire cars collect from the short stay car parks at Heathrow, and the airport charges for parking there. Ask us when you book how parking and waiting are handled in your quote.
Prefer to keep it simple? You can also phone the driver once you have your bags and meet at an agreed point in the car park.
Heathrow Terminals We Serve from Sydenham
Heathrow has four working terminals, numbered 2, 3, 4 and 5. Terminal 1 has closed. Check your booking for the terminal, because they are not all next to each other and a wrong drop can cost you 20 minutes.
Minicab to Heathrow Terminal 2
Terminal 2, also called the Queen's Terminal, is in the central area. A minicab to Heathrow Terminal 2 leaves the M4 at junction 4, follows the spur road and passes through the tunnel under the runway. Drop off is on the upper departures level.
Transfer to Heathrow Terminal 3
Terminal 3 is a short walk from Terminal 2 and uses the same tunnel approach. A transfer to Heathrow Terminal 3 is popular with long haul passengers, so cars here often carry more luggage. An estate or MPV is worth considering.
Taxis to Heathrow Terminal 4
Terminal 4 stands apart on the south side of the airport. Taxis to Heathrow Terminal 4 normally approach by the M25 at junction 14 or along the A30 and the Southern Perimeter Road. Tell us if you are staying at a Terminal 4 hotel the night before.
Taxi to Heathrow Terminal 5
Terminal 5 is at the western end and has its own link from the M25 at junction 14. A taxi to Heathrow Terminal 5 from Sydenham often runs by the A316 and M3 before joining the M25, which avoids the central tunnel altogether.

Minicab Service Sydenham Route and Journey Time
Our minicab service from Sydenham usually heads west on the A205 South Circular. That means Forest Hill, Dulwich Common, Tulse Hill and Clapham Common, then on through Wandsworth and Putney towards Kew Bridge. From the Chiswick roundabout the M4 runs straight to the airport.
The typical journey time is 60 to 90 minutes. In the morning peak, between about 7am and 9.30am, it can take longer because the South Circular is a single lane each way for long stretches. Very early or late at night, the same drive can come in under the hour.
For Terminals 4 and 5 the driver may prefer the A3, the A316 and the M3 to reach the M25. Drivers check live traffic before leaving and choose on the day.
We suggest leaving Sydenham about three and a half hours before a short haul flight and four and a half before a long haul one.
Airport Cars Heathrow from Sydenham
Choose your car by luggage first. Four adults fit in a saloon, but four adults with four large cases do not.
Standard Car
A standard saloon car takes up to four passengers with around two large cases and two cabin bags. It is the usual choice for solo travellers and couples.
Estate
An estate carries up to four passengers with a longer boot. Pick it for skis, a folded pushchair, or three to four big cases.
MPV
An MPV seats six or seven depending on the model. See our 6 seater taxi and 7 seater taxi pages for how the luggage space works out.
Minibus Hire (8 Seater Taxi)
Minibus hire gives you an 8 seater taxi for a large family, a wedding party or colleagues travelling to the same flight. One vehicle keeps everyone together and is normally cheaper than two cars.

Heathrow Taxi Questions from Sydenham Passengers
How long does a taxi from Sydenham to Heathrow take?
Typically 60 to 90 minutes. It depends mostly on the South Circular. Before 6am the roads are clear and the drive is at the quick end. On a weekday morning, allow the full 90 minutes or more.
How far is Heathrow from Sydenham?
About 22 miles by the usual road route through Clapham and Kew to the M4. The mileage changes a little by terminal, with Terminal 5 the furthest west.
Is there a drop off charge at Heathrow?
Heathrow charges vehicles that use the terminal drop off zones. Ask us whether this charge is included in your quote when you book, so there are no surprises on the day.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track your flight using the flight number you give us. The driver is sent to match the actual landing time, so a delay in the air does not leave you without a car.
Where will the driver meet me at Heathrow?
With meet and greet, in the arrivals hall of your terminal with a name board. Without it, you call when you have your luggage and meet the driver at the short stay car park.
Can I get a child seat for the Heathrow run?
Child seats are available on request. Tell us your child's age when booking. It is a long drive, so a proper seat makes it safer and much more comfortable for them.
Which Heathrow terminal should I tell the driver?
The one printed on your ticket or shown in your airline app. Airlines sometimes move, so check the day before. If you are unsure, give us the flight number and we will look it up with you.
